Job Overview:
The Project Assistant, UNHCR – Livelihood position at Plan International is crucial for supporting the implementation of a livelihoods project aimed at enhancing the economic resilience and self-reliance of refugees and vulnerable host community members in Aswan. The role involves day-to-day implementation, monitoring, and coordination of project activities, ensuring that they align with Plan International's Country Strategy and donor requirements. The Project Assistant will work closely with partners, field teams, and stakeholders to ensure effective execution of livelihoods interventions, which include vocational training, business support, and social cohesion activities. This position is integral in linking beneficiaries with services and opportunities, supporting reporting processes, and monitoring progress against established indicators, all while ensuring strong coordination among project stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Project Assistant, your responsibilities will include supporting the implementation and follow-up of project activities in Aswan according to approved work plans. You will assist in developing and maintaining detailed project implementation plans and tracking progress against targets. Additionally, you will contribute to the preparation of quarterly progress reports and donor reporting requirements. Monitoring project activities to ensure alignment with indicators, timelines, and quality standards will be a key part of your role. You will also support coordination meetings, partner engagement, and implementation review sessions. Budget monitoring and ensuring expenditures align with approved plans will be part of your duties, as well as supporting the preparation of Project Outlines (POs) in SAP to ensure compliance with donor requirements. Facilitating collaboration with field teams and other projects to promote synergies and learning, supporting logistics, procurement, and operational processes for smooth implementation, and ensuring safeguarding, Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI), and M&E standards are embedded in all activities will also be essential. Maintaining effective working relationships with government stakeholders, partners, and community actors, as well as documenting lessons learned, best practices, and project evidence, will round out your responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Project Assistant position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. Additionally, 1-3 years of experience in an INGO or humanitarian development context is required. Candidates should have experience in livelihoods, community development, or project implementation, along with strong skills in coordination, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. A good understanding of monitoring and evaluation processes is essential, as is experience working with local partners and community-based organizations. Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills are necessary for success in this role, as well as a good command of the English language. A willingness to conduct regular field visits, approximately 20% of the time, is also expected.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field to qualify for the Project Assistant position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and understanding of the social and developmental issues that the role will address.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have 1-3 years of relevant experience in an INGO or humanitarian development context. This experience should ideally include work in livelihoods, community development, or project implementation, which will equip the candidate with the practical skills and insights needed to effectively support the project.

Languages:
A good command of the English language is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in Arabic would be advantageous, as it would facilitate communication with local stakeholders and beneficiaries.

This position is based in Aswan and requires 100% working from the office. The project is set to end on 31/12/2026, and the vacancy is open to Egyptian Nationals only.
