Job Overview:
The Analyst position at EBRD is primarily focused on the corporate sector, which encompasses financing projects in various industries such as manufacturing, agribusiness, retail, and real estate. The role is based in Belgrade, Serbia, and involves covering projects throughout Serbia and the Southeastern Europe (SEE) region. The Analyst will be integral to all phases of the project cycle, which includes project origination, structuring, execution, implementation, and monitoring. The Analyst will be responsible for tasks assigned by the operation leader or senior project team members, which may involve conducting comprehensive due diligence, ensuring compliance with EBRD policies, and effectively monitoring projects post-signing. This position is designed to allow the Analyst to progressively take on more complex tasks and expand their responsibilities based on their experience and expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Analyst will work under the guidance of the operation leader or a more senior banker and will be involved in various aspects of project structuring and execution. Key responsibilities include:
  • Structuring and Execution: - Collaborate as a project team member on transactions, contributing to research and analysis of background materials, market information, and financial performance data. - Analyze potential risks related to proposed projects, including financial statement analysis and the preparation of financial models and projections. - Assist in designing and processing technical cooperation assistance, including preparing terms of reference and internal approval documentation. - Communicate with internal units, clients, and stakeholders, preparing draft correspondence and presentations as needed. - Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks to a high standard in line with Bank policies and objectives.
  • Portfolio Monitoring, Value Creation, and Reporting: - Undertake tasks related to project implementation and monitoring, ensuring compliance with project agreements and Bank procedures. - Prepare draft monitoring reports with recommendations for corrective actions and ensure these are communicated to senior team members. - Assist with the effective implementation and monitoring of technical cooperation assignments, including communication with clients and preparation of progress reports. The Analyst's responsibilities are structured to facilitate growth and the acquisition of more complex tasks over time.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Analyst position should possess a Bachelor’s degree, with a Master’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in relevant fields. Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ACCA, or CIMA are desirable. Strong quantitative and numerical skills are essential, along with the ability to interpret financial information and design financial models. Candidates should have credit analysis skills, familiarity with local and international accounting principles, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications. Effective teamwork, the ability to meet deadlines, and strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Serbian are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred, as it provides a deeper understanding of the financial and economic principles relevant to the role. Candidates with equivalent professional experience in finance or related areas may also be considered.

Experience:
Relevant experience in the financial industry is essential for the Analyst position. Candidates should have experience from investment or commercial banks, private equity firms, asset management firms, or auditing/financial consulting firms that operate to international standards. Exposure to industry-specific knowledge and experience in the SEE region is advantageous, as it enhances the candidate's understanding of the corporate and industry sector specifics and regulations.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and Serbian is mandatory for this position, as effective communication with clients and stakeholders is crucial. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they relate to the regions in which EBRD operates.
