Job Overview:
The OGMP 2.0 Upstream Expert Consultant will play a crucial role in providing technical support to the Oil & Gas Methane Partnership (OGMP) team, focusing on various aspects of methane emissions reporting, data analysis, and mitigation technologies. This position is vital for enhancing the accuracy and transparency of methane emissions reporting in the oil and gas sector. The consultant will engage with OGMP member companies to refine their data methodologies and ensure compliance with the updated reporting framework, OGMP 2.0, which was launched in November 202

• This framework represents a significant advancement in the standardization of emissions accounting practices, requiring member companies to report on methane emissions from all material sources across the entire oil and gas value chain. The consultant will also be responsible for contributing to the development of guidelines and technical materials that assist companies in meeting OGMP 2.0 reporting requirements, thereby fostering a collaborative approach to methane emissions reduction.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties will include providing technical backstopping to the OGMP team, focusing on reporting, data analysis, and the application of methane emissions detection and mitigation technologies. Specific responsibilities will involve working closely with OGMP member companies to review their data methodologies, providing technical feedback to enhance their reporting processes, and contributing to the annual data review process. The consultant will also support the recruitment of new member companies, conducting technical consultations, and documenting insights from these interactions. Additionally, the consultant will develop technical workshop materials for the OGMP annual conference, produce summary reports of key insights from technical calls, and provide written inputs on technical guidance documents. The consultant will be expected to maintain strict confidentiality regarding company data and information throughout their engagement with the OGMP.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in environmental sciences, engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A minimum of five years of relevant work experience in scientific or technical fields, particularly in atmospheric sciences, environmental engineering, petroleum engineering, or oil and gas operations, is required. Experience working with the upstream oil and gas sector is essential, along with expertise in methodologies and technologies for methane emissions detection, quantification, and mitigation. Strong written and oral communication skills are necessary, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a remote, multi-disciplinary team.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as environmental sciences or engineering. In cases where candidates hold a first university degree, they must also have two additional years of qualifying experience to be considered for the role. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complex scientific and technical aspects of methane emissions and their mitigation.

Experience:
The position requires at least five years of relevant work experience in a scientific or technical field, with a strong emphasis on experience within the upstream oil and gas sector. Languages:

The consultancy is expected to last for 12 months, and the position is remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.
