Job Overview: The Lead Consultant for Fund Grant (GC8) HIV/TB Funding Request will play a crucial role in leading the consultancy for the HIV/TB funding request cycle. This position involves overseeing the preparation and submission of funding requests, ensuring alignment with UNDP's strategic objectives and the needs of the communities affected by HIV and TB. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating with various stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and international partners, to gather necessary data and insights that will inform the funding proposal. The consultant is expected to have a deep understanding of the HIV/TB landscape, including current challenges and opportunities, and to provide strategic recommendations that will enhance the effectiveness of the funding request. The assignment is set for a period of 30 consultancy days, scheduled between April 20 and July 25, 2026, and requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the development of the funding request for the HIV/TB program, ensuring it meets all requirements set by the funding body.
Conduct comprehensive assessments of the current HIV/TB situation in Zimbabwe, including epidemiological data, programmatic responses, and resource needs.
Engage with key stakeholders to gather input and feedback on the funding proposal, ensuring it reflects the needs and priorities of affected communities.
Prepare and present reports and documentation related to the funding request, including budget estimates and implementation plans.
Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to discuss the funding request and gather additional insights.
Ensure compliance with UNDP policies and procedures throughout the funding request process.
Provide ongoing support and guidance to the UNDP team and partners during the proposal development phase.
Monitor and evaluate the progress of the funding request preparation, making adjustments as necessary to meet deadlines.
Proven experience in developing funding proposals for health programs, particularly in the areas of HIV and TB.
Strong understanding of the global and local context of HIV/TB responses, including relevant policies and strategies.
Excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and compelling proposals.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and community representatives.
Familiarity with UNDP's operational procedures and guidelines is an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced degree (Master's or equivalent) in public health, social sciences, international development, or a related field. A PhD is preferred but not mandatory. Relevant certifications in project management or health program implementation will be considered an advantage.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in health program management, with a focus on HIV and TB. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of funding proposals and grant management, is essential. Previous consultancy experience in similar roles will be highly regarded.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Zimbabwe is an asset and will enhance communication with local stakeholders.
