Job Overview: The Nuclear Security Information Management Officer (Technical Lead) will play a crucial role in coordinating and implementing activities related to the integration, management, analysis, and reporting of nuclear security-related information. This position is vital for developing and implementing cross-divisional activities that support Member States within the Nuclear Security Programme. The officer will be responsible for overseeing the Incident and Trafficking Database (ITDB), Nuclear Security Information Management System (NUSIMS), Nuclear Security Information Portal (NUSEC), and Programme Cycle Management Framework (PCMF). The role requires a blend of technical leadership, strategic advisory capabilities, and analytical skills to ensure effective management of sensitive information and to enhance the international nuclear security framework.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Nuclear Security Information Management Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities including: coordinating the nuclear security information management team; developing work plans for nuclear security information-related activities; providing technical leadership in the design and implementation of information technology solutions; establishing frameworks for information governance; developing guidance and training materials; managing projects involving experts from Member States and international organizations; and staying updated on trends in nuclear security. The officer will also be responsible for ensuring data integrity and confidentiality of sensitive information, and will act as a scientific secretary for various meetings, contributing to reports and publications on nuclear security topics.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in natural sciences and/or computer science. Alternatively, a university degree in these fields combined with two years of relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of seven years of professional experience in information management, particularly in handling sensitive or security-related information, and at least two years of experience in nuclear security. Proven analytical skills and expertise in managing nuclear-security-related information are essential, along with a strong command of English and knowledge of other official IAEA languages being an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in natural sciences and/or computer science. In cases where candidates possess a university degree in these fields, they may be considered if they have two years of relevant work experience. Additional Notes: The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $86,027, along with a variable post adjustment currently amounting to US $44,82
