Job Overview: The FSL Coordinator position is crucial for the development of SI Mozambique’s security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) sector. The role involves designing a pluriannual strategy and supporting the mission’s three-year programming vision. The coordinator will ensure the relevance and quality of FSL approaches, support ongoing cash and voucher interventions, and strengthen technical capacities. The position will focus on developing concept notes, improving distribution modalities in line with SI standards, and fostering partnerships with international and local NGOs. The mission is currently transitioning from emergency to development, which presents unique challenges and opportunities for impactful programming.
Duties and Responsibilities: The FSL Coordinator will be responsible for several key duties, including:
Developing a pluriannual FSL strategy for the mission, incorporating disaster risk reduction (DRR) and anticipatory action.
Contributing to the mission’s three-year programming strategy.
Developing concept notes and proposals for funding.
Strengthening and improving cash and voucher programming, including distribution practices.
Providing technical support to ongoing FSL programs and program managers.
Engaging with international NGOs and local NGOs to build partnerships.
Enhancing the technical positioning and representation of SI in the FSL sector, particularly in DRR and anticipatory action. The role requires a proactive approach to addressing the challenges of a rapidly changing operational environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in Food Security, Agronomy, Economics, Humanitarian Action, or a related field. Additionally, they should have 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with 0 to 2 years in a similar position. The role demands strong expertise in FSL programming, particularly in cash and voucher assistance, and experience in strategy development and design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design. A solid understanding of market-based approaches and project cycle management is essential, along with the ability to improve distribution systems and operational practices in line with SI standards.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Food Security, Agronomy, Economics, or Humanitarian Action is required for this position. This educational background is critical for understanding the complexities of food security and livelihoods in humanitarian contexts, as well as for developing effective strategies and interventions.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have 3 to 4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 0 to 2 years in a similar role. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the coordinator can effectively navigate the challenges of the FSL sector and contribute to the strategic goals of the mission.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international partners. Proficiency in Portuguese is considered a strong asset, given the local context of Mozambique. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with coverage for accommodation costs and travel expenses. The organization also offers a comprehensive insurance package for expatriates, covering healthcare expenses and essential vaccinations. Living conditions in Pemba are relatively good, with stable access to utilities and adequate accommodation, although field locations may have more basic conditions.
