Job Overview: The Sustainability Analyst/Reporting Consultant will play a crucial role in upgrading Mercy Corps' sustainability data tracking and reporting system. This position involves working closely with the sustainability team to enhance the accuracy and automation of data reporting. The consultant will be responsible for developing a custom interactive Power BI dashboard that will facilitate carbon accounting and reporting, specifically focusing on Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. The consultant will integrate data from various sources, including the Enterprise Fabric Lakehouse, to ensure comprehensive reporting. The goal is to create a user-friendly and visually compelling dashboard that meets the organization's needs while identifying opportunities for improved functionality. The consultant will also collaborate with the Data Services Team to automate data refresh processes and maintain data integrity, ensuring that the dashboard remains effective and reliable.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Sustainability Analyst/Reporting Consultant include:
Developing and building a custom interactive Power BI dashboard for carbon emissions reporting, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
Integrating data from multiple sources into Power BI for comprehensive reporting.
Identifying opportunities to enhance dashboard functionality and user experience.
Ensuring the dashboard is visually compelling and aligned with organizational needs.
Collaborating with the Data Services Team to automate data refresh processes and maintain data integrity.
Delivering a fully functional Power BI dashboard with integrated data sources and automated error-checking processes.
Reporting to the Environmental Sustainability Manager and working closely with the Global Data Services Team.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
5-10 years of experience in a relevant technical field, demonstrating industry knowledge and expertise.
A proven track record of supporting mission-driven organizations.
A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Analytics, or related fields.
Experience with carbon accounting and emissions reporting.
Proven experience in Power BI development, including data modeling, DAX, and data visualization best practices.
Strong proficiency in Excel and familiarity with data transformation tools such as Power Query Editor.
Understanding of relational databases and data integration.
Familiarity with sustainability frameworks and standards, such as the GHG Protocol.
Educational Background: Candidates should possess a degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Analytics, or a related field.
