Duties and Responsibilities: The Family Support Specialist will be responsible for several key duties:
Facilitating the provision of safe accommodation for women and children escaping domestic and family violence.
Providing immediate support to women and children impacted by domestic and family violence.
Conducting thorough gendered analysis of risk and needs assessments within a trauma-informed case management framework.
Developing strong networks and referral pathways to support desired outcomes for clients.
Collecting and recording information for accountability, evaluation, and reporting purposes.
Engaging with clients in a culturally sensitive manner, ensuring that their unique backgrounds and needs are respected and addressed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a deep understanding of domestic and family violence, particularly its impact on women and children. They should have knowledge of best practices, professional standards, and relevant research in the field. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate an understanding of how cultural contexts influence practice approaches. A current valid driver’s license is also required.
