Job Overview: The National Professional Officer (Data and Information Management) position is crucial for managing data and information related to health programs and emergencies in Mongolia. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Coordinator for Integrated Disease Control and will be responsible for overseeing data management activities. This role involves interacting with local authorities, UN partners, NGOs, and other stakeholders to foster strategic partnerships and enhance information management processes. The officer will aggregate and maintain health data, participate in geographic analysis for reports, and support epidemiological surveys and reviews. The position requires a strong focus on ensuring the availability and quality of health data for evidence-based decision-making and monitoring of national health strategies and public health priorities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the National Professional Officer include:
Managing data and information activities for WHO Country Office programs and health emergencies.
Interacting with local authorities and counterparts in other UN agencies and NGOs to support strategic partnerships.
Aggregating and maintaining inter-country information from WHO and partners, including health indicator data and health response data.
Participating in geographic analysis for maps and reports, such as dashboards and situation reports (SitReps).
Facilitating information sharing between institutions to enhance access to information.
Participating in field epidemiological surveys, including mortality and vaccination coverage surveys.
Supporting disease-specific epidemiological reviews and data collection for various health issues.
Collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data related to outbreaks and health risk assessments.
Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the position include:
A Bachelor’s degree in information or data management, computer sciences, statistics, applied mathematics, epidemiology, public health, or a similar discipline.
Post-graduate training in epidemiology or similar programs is desirable.
WHO considers only higher educational qualifications from accredited institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as information or data management, computer sciences, statistics, applied mathematics, epidemiology, or public health. A post-graduate degree or specialized training in epidemiology or humanitarian response is preferred. Educational qualifications must be from institutions recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
Experience: Candidates should have at least two years of relevant experience in information systems management, monitoring, and data analysis, particularly in public health and epidemiological data analysis. Experience working with WHO, other UN agencies, or relevant NGOs is desirable. The role requires a strong background in managing complex information systems and public health surveillance data.
Languages: Essential language skills include expert knowledge of English and the local language. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory for this position.

The position offers an annual base salary starting at USD 38,680, with mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Employees are entitled to 30 days of annual leave.
