Job Overview:
The Education Officer position at UNICEF involves providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for education programmes/projects within the Country Programme. This role includes contributing to the development planning of education initiatives, identifying and sharing lessons learned, and applying innovative approaches to support the implementation of sustainable programme results. The Education Officer will also be involved in research and reporting on best practices, as well as participating in capacity-building initiatives to enhance the competencies of clients and stakeholders. The position requires a proactive approach to programme development and planning, ensuring effective management, monitoring, and delivery of results, as well as fostering networking and partnership building.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key functions and accountabilities of the Education Officer include:
  • Supporting programme development and planning by contributing to the design and implementation of education initiatives.
  • Managing and monitoring programme delivery to ensure results are achieved effectively and efficiently.
  • Providing technical and operational support to programme implementation, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals.
  • Building and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders to enhance collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Engaging in innovation and knowledge management to promote best practices and lessons learned within the education sector.
  • Participating in capacity-building initiatives to strengthen the skills and competencies of clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
The minimum requirements for this position include a Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in Education, Sociology, Psychology, Educational Leadership, Development Studies, Social Work, or other related fields. Candidates should possess strong skills in capacity building, knowledge management, partnership building, programme management, and reporting. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as Education, Sociology, Psychology, Educational Leadership, Development Studies, or Social Work. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of education programmes and the socio-economic factors affecting children's access to education.

Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience is required, which should include programme development and planning, programme management, monitoring and evaluation, networking and partnership building, and capacity building. Experience in a UN system agency or organization, particularly in development or humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is considered an asset and is desirable for enhancing communication and collaboration in diverse settings.
