Job Overview:
The position involves consulting for the preparation of the National Report on Multisectoral Competitiveness in Equatorial Guinea. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating the study that aims to assess the competitiveness of various sectors within the country, focusing on access to financing for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MIPYMES) and the framework for local content regulations. The consultant will work closely with stakeholders to gather data, analyze findings, and compile the report, which will serve as a critical tool for policymakers and business leaders in enhancing the economic landscape of Equatorial Guinea. The assignment is expected to last for 60 days over a period of 10 weeks, requiring a thorough understanding of the local economic context and the ability to engage with various sectors effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of the current state of multisectoral competitiveness in Equatorial Guinea, including identifying key sectors and their challenges.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations, to gather insights and data relevant to the study.
  • Assess the access to financing for MIPYMES and evaluate the effectiveness of existing local content regulations.
  • Compile and analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and barriers to competitiveness.
  • Prepare a detailed report outlining findings, recommendations, and strategies for enhancing multisectoral competitiveness.
  • Present the report to relevant stakeholders and facilitate discussions on implementation strategies.
  • Ensure that all deliverables are completed on time and meet the quality standards set by UNDP.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in economics, business administration, or a related field. Proven experience in conducting economic research and analysis, particularly in the context of developing countries, is essential. Familiarity with the economic landscape of Equatorial Guinea or similar contexts will be an advantage. Strong analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication abilities, and proficiency in report writing are required. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple tasks effectively is also crucial.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, or a related field is required. A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline would be an asset, particularly for candidates with extensive research experience. Additional certifications in project management or consultancy may also be beneficial.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in economic research, consultancy, or a related field. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of development projects, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully managing similar assignments and delivering high-quality reports is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable given the local context of Equatorial Guinea. Knowledge of other languages spoken in the region may also be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 60 days, spread over a period of 10 weeks. This is a consultancy role, and candidates may be required to work both remotely and on-site in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The position is open to both national and international applicants. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and additional benefits may be provided as per UNDP policies.
