Job Overview: The Consultant for the She Leads: Uttar Pradesh initiative will lead a state-level capacity-building workshop aimed at empowering women to take on greater roles in public life and local administration. This initiative is particularly significant in light of the One Hundred and Sixth Amendment to the Indian Constitution, which mandates one-third reservation of seats for women in legislative assemblies. The Consultant will be responsible for the overall coordination of the workshop, which includes strategic planning, participant recruitment, curriculum development, and logistics management. The role requires engaging with multiple stakeholders, including grassroots organizations and political leaders, to ensure the successful delivery of the program. The Consultant will also be tasked with documenting the workshop outcomes and providing comprehensive reports to UN Women, thereby contributing to the broader goal of enhancing women's representation in governance and decision-making processes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant will undertake a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
Event Coordination and Planning: Mobilizing participants through digital and offline outreach, coordinating with grassroots organizations, and overseeing the recruitment and selection process for 100 potential women aspirants.
Research and Documentation: Developing Legislative Assembly factsheets, drafting the workshop curriculum, coordinating with speakers, and leading the delivery of the two-day workshop.
Post-Event Activities: Compiling participant feedback, preparing comprehensive documentation reports, and ensuring the dissemination of workshop outputs to stakeholders.
Strategic Programme Coordination: Engaging with various stakeholders, managing logistics, and ensuring the smooth execution of all workshop sessions.
Continuous Improvement: Analyzing feedback and outcomes to enhance future iterations of the program and contribute to the ongoing development of women leaders in Uttar Pradesh.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, with demonstrated experience in researching or working on gender issues. They should have strong research and writing skills, analytical abilities, and creative thinking. The ability to work harmoniously with diverse teams and stakeholders is essential, along with initiative and sound judgment. Candidates should also demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to engage with various audiences.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions is required for this position. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in gender issues and social sciences, equipping the candidate with the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to contribute effectively to the initiative.
Experience: At least 7 years of professional work experience is required, particularly in research, data analysis, and policy analysis related to gender equality and women's rights. Candidates should have substantial knowledge and expertise in gender data and research, as well as demonstrated experience in initiatives focused on women's empowerment and political participation. Familiarity with the political landscape of Uttar Pradesh, including party structures and governance, is highly desirable.
Languages: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi are mandatory. Proficiency in any other Indian language is considered an asset, as it will enhance the ability to communicate research findings and engage with a diverse audience effectively.
Additional Notes: This is a full-time consultancy position, and the consultant is expected to use their own computer equipment, as the office will not provide any. The consultant must disclose any outside activities and is not permitted to take up any outside work during the assignment. The evaluation and selection process will include an interview and presentation, with specific criteria for shortlisting based on qualifications and relevant experience. The consultant may be required to undergo a medical examination if travel is involved, and all applications must include a completed UN Women Personal History form.
