Job Overview:
The UNV Associate position at UNICEF Myanmar is focused on enhancing child protection, mental health, and parenting awareness through social media engagement. The role involves collaborating with various teams to develop key messages and content aimed at children, adolescents, youth, and caregivers. The associate will be responsible for creating a monthly content plan, monitoring social media interactions, and facilitating youth empowerment sessions. This position is crucial in addressing the complex challenges faced by children in Myanmar, particularly in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the need for effective communication strategies to reach vulnerable populations. The associate will work closely with the Child Protection team and other consultants to ensure that the messages are relevant, impactful, and aligned with local contexts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop key messages on child protection, mental health, and parenting in collaboration with the Child Protection team and consultants.
  • Gather inputs from children and caregivers to inform message development.
  • Coordinate field visits with child protection officers to plan and execute outreach activities.
  • Prepare user-friendly versions of messages for dissemination.
  • Create a monthly content plan with clear objectives and themes.
  • Monitor social media interactions and respond to comments in consultation with the Child Protection team.
  • Report high-risk messages requiring urgent attention.
  • Support the rollout of the Adolescent Kit and facilitate youth sessions in community settings.
  • Assist in establishing an adolescent support hub and provide ongoing support to youth hub operators. 1
  • Collaborate with the U-Report team to enhance youth empowerment initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong communication skills, particularly in social media management and youth engagement. They should demonstrate creativity in developing content and be adaptable to the changing needs of the community. A commitment to child rights and a passion for working with adolescents and youth are essential. The ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders is also crucial for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, communications, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of child protection issues and mental health, as well as experience in developing communication strategies tailored to youth and community engagement.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in social media management, youth engagement, or community outreach. Experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly children and adolescents, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the humanitarian context in Myanmar and the challenges faced by children in the region will be an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in Myanmar language is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in the region may be beneficial but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is a national youth volunteer role, and it is expected to be full-time. The contract duration and specific compensation details will be discussed during the interview process.
