Job Overview:
The Monitoring Assistant position at WFP involves coordinating and executing monitoring activities within a designated area to ensure effective delivery of assistance packages. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including field office management and cooperating partners, to prepare monitoring plans, verify distributions, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports. The Monitoring Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the McGovern-Dole School Feeding Programme by ensuring that monitoring processes align with WFP standards and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the program. This position is vital for maintaining the quality of operations and ensuring that the needs of beneficiaries are met through accurate data collection and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist Field Office management in preparing the monthly and annual field monitoring plan for the McGovern-Dole School Feeding Programme, ensuring alignment with the School Feeding Programme team.
  • Verify planned movements and distribution of food or non-food items, resolving routine issues and escalating where necessary to ensure compliance with WFP standards.
  • Collect and summarize data related to school-based assistance programs, collaborating with partners to conduct analyses and prepare reports for program reviews.
  • Liaise with cooperating partners and internal counterparts to gather feedback and improve services.
  • Guide and review annual monitoring plans and tools for cooperating partners, suggesting improvements for efficient implementation of the School Feeding Programme.
  • Provide training for cooperating partners on WFP operational practices and monitoring tools to enhance their self-monitoring capabilities.
  • Prepare monthly monitoring reports highlighting key findings and necessary corrective actions.
  • Maintain a monitoring findings tracker and follow up on issues with supervisors and the School Feeding Programme team.
  • Adhere to emergency response processes for food assistance. 1
  • Assist in implementing the Community Feedback Mechanism to receive and resolve complaints from the field. 1
  • Support the assessment of cooperating partner performance using standardized templates. 1
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned by the Head of Field Office or Monitoring & Evaluation Officer.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a University Degree (bachelor's or equivalent) in Development Studies, Social Science, Humanities, or a related field. A strong understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles, as well as experience in humanitarian assistance, is essential. Candidates should demonstrate analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Proficiency in using monitoring tools and methodologies is also required, along with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Development Studies, Social Science, or Humanities is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian assistance and the importance of effective monitoring and evaluation in program implementation.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in monitoring and evaluation or related fields. This experience should include working in humanitarian contexts, demonstrating the ability to manage monitoring activities, analyze data, and prepare reports that inform decision-making. Familiarity with WFP operations and standards is an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in both spoken and written English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a Service Contract for a duration of 12 months, based in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
