Job Overview: The Senior Programme Assistant position is crucial for the WFP's Programs Unit, specifically focusing on Emergency Preparedness and Response. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support and assistance in the development and implementation of various processes and activities within the Emergency Preparedness and Response area, ensuring alignment with broader program policies and guidelines.
Assist in the planning, preparation, and management of projects to ensure that activities are executed in accordance with established targets and WFP policies.
Collaborate in the preparation of reports and data analysis related to food assistance needs and program implementation.
Ensure timely data recording in the context of program implementation, maintaining consistency and accuracy of information presented to stakeholders.
Maintain communication with internal counterparts to foster collaboration and effective implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
Support capacity-building processes for WFP staff and partner organizations as required.
Follow standard emergency preparedness and response practices to ensure WFP's readiness to respond quickly and deploy necessary resources to affected areas at the onset of a crisis.
Assist in the selection of cooperating partners and evaluate their performance in project execution.
Perform other duties as required by the supervisor that align with the purpose of the position.
Required Qualifications: Minimum requirements include completion of secondary education. A professional degree in social sciences, social work, business administration, nutrition, food engineering, or related fields is desirable. Candidates should possess five years of progressive experience in designing and implementing social programs, community planning, and participation, particularly in hot meal provision programs. Proficiency in office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and intermediate knowledge of databases is required. Strong interpersonal skills, effective communication abilities with supervisors and clients, and the capacity to work in multicultural environments under pressure with a customer service focus are essential. Experience in complex contexts, humanitarian responses, and capacity strengthening of community organizations is preferred. Previous experience with UN agencies, funds, or programs is also desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed secondary education, with a preference for those holding a professional degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, social work, business administration, nutrition, food engineering, or similar disciplines. This educational background is essential to ensure that candidates possess the foundational knowledge necessary for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in the design and implementation of social programs, particularly in areas related to community planning and participation. Additional Notes: The contract duration is six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding.
