Job Overview:
The Behavior Change Specialist will be integral to the UNESCO project aimed at establishing a circular economy for sustainable tourism in the Cusco region. This role involves designing and implementing strategies that promote behavior change concerning environmental issues, sustainable tourism, and heritage conservation. The specialist will engage with local communities and visitors to foster environmental consciousness and participation. The position requires the development of innovative campaigns tailored to the socio-cultural context of Cusco and Urubamba, drawing on successful methodologies from Korea. The specialist will also serve as a liaison between UNESCO, KOICA, and other stakeholders, facilitating knowledge transfer and enhancing project visibility.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will support the design, implementation, and evaluation of awareness-raising strategies and behavior change activities. This includes developing educational campaigns for local communities and the tourism sector, utilizing digital technologies for engagement, and creating communication materials that reflect gender equality and cultural relevance. The specialist will act as a technical link between various organizations, participate in meetings to align project messages, and develop monitoring systems to assess the impact of behavior change initiatives. Additionally, the role involves translating key documents to ensure effective communication among stakeholders and advising local authorities on strategic awareness plans.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in Environmental Education, Cultural Heritage, Circular Economy, Sustainability, or related fields. They should have proven experience in international cooperation projects related to environmental management, tourism, or cultural heritage, as well as experience in participatory methodologies and behavior change campaigns in multicultural settings.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Environmental Education, Cultural Heritage, Circular Economy, or Sustainability is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of the role and to effectively contribute to the project's objectives.

Experience:
At least two years of professional experience in international cooperation projects in Latin America, particularly in areas related to environmental management, tourism, or cultural heritage, is required. Alternatively, candidates may have two years of experience implementing behavior change campaigns in multicultural environments, demonstrating their ability to adapt strategies to diverse contexts.

Languages:
Good knowledge of English (verbal and written) is mandatory, along with very good knowledge of Spanish. Proficiency in Korean is desirable, as the role involves communication with Korean stakeholders and translating documents between Spanish/English and Korean.

Additional Notes:
This is a secondment position funded by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and only nationals of the Republic of Korea are eligible to apply. The contract duration is two years, renewable, and the position is full-time. The role is based in Cusco, Peru, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including local communities and international organizations. Compensation includes a basic salary and benefits such as annual leave, medical insurance, and a pension plan, in accordance with UNESCO's policies.
