Job Overview: The Education Associate position is crucial for the implementation of the Refugee Education Strategy, which aligns with the Global Compact on Refugees. This role involves supporting the education sector in Chad, particularly in the Ouaddaï province, where the Education Associate will coordinate educational programs aimed at refugees and vulnerable populations. The incumbent will work closely with the Associate Education Officer and other stakeholders to ensure that refugee children have access to quality education that meets national standards. The Education Associate will also be responsible for monitoring educational activities, reporting on progress, and advocating for the inclusion of refugees in national education systems. This position requires a proactive approach to addressing the educational needs of refugees and ensuring that their rights to education are upheld.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Education Associate will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Coordinating the education program in the Ouaddaï province and supporting implementation in other eastern provinces as needed.
Monitoring the distribution of educational materials and financial support for vulnerable students.
Collaborating with partners to ensure the construction of classrooms and the identification of students with disabilities.
Organizing workshops and training sessions for educators and community members.
Promoting awareness campaigns about the importance of education and continuing studies.
Supporting the establishment of digital learning centers in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education.
Participating in monthly coordination meetings and drafting reports on educational activities.
Liaising with external partners, including government ministries, to advocate for refugee education.
Ensuring compliance with UNHCR policies and standards in all educational initiatives. 1
Conducting assessments and evaluations to measure the impact of educational programs and making necessary adjustments based on findings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in education, social work, or international development. A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required, particularly in educational program implementation and coordination in humanitarian or development contexts. Essential competencies include strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and experience working with government entities and educational institutions. Proficiency in French and Arabic is mandatory, with English being a desirable language.
