Job Overview:
The Project Communications Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Resilient Philippines Project and other initiatives related to Animal Production and Health. This position is based in the FAO Country Office in the Philippines and involves working under the supervision of the FAO Representative and the National Project Coordinator. The assistant will be responsible for coordinating communications efforts between FAO and government partners, developing communication action plans, and producing various communication materials such as reports, press releases, and social media content. The role requires a strong understanding of One Health, animal health, risk communication, and community engagement, particularly in the context of zoonotic and transboundary animal diseases. The assistant will also be expected to maintain a network of contacts with communication suppliers and media institutions to ensure effective dissemination of information regarding the project’s activities and emergency responses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Communications Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including serving as the communications focal point for the Resilient Philippines Project and other related initiatives. Key tasks include developing and implementing a comprehensive communication action plan, assisting in drafting and distributing various communication products, identifying subjects of interest for content development, facilitating the production and dissemination of communication materials, and establishing a network of contacts with communication suppliers and media institutions. The assistant will also ensure compliance with FAO’s corporate communication policies and guidelines, manage communication products through the Publication Workflow System, and perform other duties as required to support the project’s objectives.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a University Degree in Development Communications or related fields, along with at least 3 years of experience in technical communications. A working knowledge of English at Level C is required, and candidates must be nationals of the Philippines. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate familiarity with the work of international organizations and possess in-depth knowledge of project management, strategic planning, and financial reporting. Excellent leadership and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to promote efficiency and best business practices.
Educational Background:
The position requires a University Degree in Development Communications or a related field. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of communication strategies, project management, and the agricultural sector.
Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in technical communications, demonstrating their ability to effectively manage communication initiatives and produce high-quality content. Experience working with international organizations or in the agricultural sector is highly desirable.
Languages:
A working knowledge of English at Level C is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the local context or the FAO's operational areas.
