Job Overview:

The intern will work under the guidance of the UNFPA Tanzania Deputy Representative and the Programme Analyst for Family Planning. The role involves contributing to the SRH technical team, focusing on reproductive and maternal health issues. Interns are expected to manage resources effectively and deliver high-impact results. They will assist in analyzing quarterly reports from partners, conducting desk reviews on SRH topics, and contributing to the development of policy briefs and communication materials. The intern will also engage in fundraising efforts and support the development of a database for key SRH indicators, thereby playing a crucial role in enhancing the effectiveness of UNFPA's programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties include providing program support by analyzing and implementing partners' quarterly reports, documenting lessons learned, and conducting desk reviews on SRH topics. They will assist in writing briefing notes, concept notes, and proposals, and engage in fundraising efforts for the SRH/Family Planning Programme. The intern will also provide secretarial support to technical working groups, organize meetings and workshops, and assist in logistical support for events promoting UNFPA's work. Additionally, they will document good practices and human-interest stories related to family planning, and develop an M&E tool for tracking SRH results.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet specific educational requirements, including enrollment in a postgraduate degree program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree in a recognized university. An added advantage is having a background in sociology, health, community development, or development studies. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in development, proficiency in English, and the ability to adapt to diverse environments. They should also possess strong analytical and writing skills, good interpersonal skills, and full computer literacy. Experience working with development agencies, even in a volunteer capacity, is preferred.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in a postgraduate degree program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program at a recognized university. Candidates who have recently graduated within one year of application are also eligible. Fields of study that are particularly relevant include medicine, sociology, public health, and development studies.

Experience:
Candidates should have some experience working with development agencies, which can include volunteer work. This experience is valuable as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational environment of development work and the ability to engage with various stakeholders.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Kiswahili is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of any other UN languages is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a diverse work environment.

The internship is unpaid, but interns may receive a stipend to cover basic daily expenses if not financially supported by an institution.
