Job Overview: The Team Leader/Inclusive Education Specialist role is a consultancy position aimed at providing technical leadership for a multi-year education initiative in the Solomon Islands. Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will undertake a variety of duties including: providing technical leadership in the design and implementation of second chance education and inclusive education initiatives; supporting the development of program strategies and learning frameworks; contributing to teacher training and professional development activities; developing learning materials and guidance for education stakeholders; advising on gender equality, disability inclusion, and equitable access to education; and contributing to the monitoring and documentation of pilot initiatives to inform program improvements and potential scale-up. The role requires a proactive approach to engaging with stakeholders and ensuring that the initiatives are effectively tailored to meet the needs of the target populations.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Education, Inclusive Education, International Development, Social Sciences, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 10 years of professional experience in education sector programming is required, with a focus on inclusive education, teacher professional development, or alternative learning pathways. At least 8 years of this experience should involve leading development programs funded by multilateral development banks such as ADB, World Bank, or IFC. Demonstrated experience in education systems strengthening and capacity development is essential, along with a proven track record of working with government education stakeholders and development partners.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in a relevant field such as Education, Inclusive Education, International Development, or Social Sciences is mandatory for this position.
