Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of security protocols and communication procedures.

Candidates must possess a High School diploma or an equivalent qualification. This educational background is essential for understanding the operational procedures and protocols necessary for effective communication and security management within the UN framework.
Experience:
The position requires at least one year of relevant experience in security or related fields, specifically within UN entities, INGOs, or certified national security organizations. Furthermore, candidates must have a minimum of six months of experience in voice procedure and radio communication, highlighting the importance of practical experience in managing security communications effectively.
Languages:

The duties and responsibilities of the Individual Contractor Security Guard Radio Operator include:
- Coordinating with the Security Operations Center (SOC) Operations Officer to disseminate radio communications and information received via mission-specific talk groups.
- Alerting the SOC Operation Supervisor or Chief Security Officer (CSO) immediately of any serious accidents reported via radio.
- Monitoring and controlling the main radio network and ensuring proper protocol is followed by all users.
- Ensuring all communications equipment is functional before starting duty.
- Receiving, recording, and passing all security-related information to supervisory channels in coordination with the SOC Operations Officer or CSO.
- Notifying supervisors of any incidents or accidents reported through communication networks.
- Accurately identifying and verifying the exact location of incidents and accidents.
- Advising radio users to switch to proper talk groups for non-security matters.
- Conducting daily radio checks with Security Guards, International Security Officers, and other staff. 1
- Monitoring various radio channels and reporting security incidents to the Security Duty Officer. 1
- Assisting in broadcasting security-related information to mission staff via radio channels. 1
- Providing necessary assistance to UN staff and affiliated organizations needing security help through radio or telephone. 1
- Responding to telephone calls in the radio room and directing callers appropriately. 1
- Maintaining control of spare keys to mission offices and keeping a key register logbook. 1
- Recording and maintaining all activities during shifts and updating emergency contact numbers. 1
- Maintaining telephone numbers and call signs of senior security personnel and staff. 1
- Reporting any equipment damages and arranging repairs. 1
- Performing other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
