Job Overview:
The Development and Outreach Department Intern position at Human Rights Watch in Amsterdam is designed for individuals interested in gaining practical experience in fundraising, event planning, and donor relations within a human rights context. The intern will be expected to work 32 hours per week over a six-month period starting in May 2026, with flexible dates and times. This internship will provide a comprehensive experience in various aspects of development and outreach, including administrative tasks, communication, and participation in departmental meetings. Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's primary responsibilities will include assisting with fundraising efforts, planning and executing (digital) events, conducting prospect research, managing databases, and maintaining communication with donors and partner organizations. The intern will also support administrative tasks related to event preparation and follow-up, ensuring that all activities align with the organization's outreach goals. Additional projects may be assigned as they arise, providing the intern with a well-rounded experience in the development and outreach field.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this internship should be well-organized, self-motivated, reliable, flexible, and detail-oriented, with strong time management skills. A keen interest in fundraising, outreach, and special events within a human rights context is essential. Applicants should possess excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Dutch, along with proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and database management. Experience working collaboratively within a team is desirable, and candidates must have valid work authorization in the Netherlands for the duration of the internship.

Educational Background:
Applicants should be pursuing or have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree related to the work of Human Rights Watch, particularly in fields such as Communication, International Relations, or other relevant disciplines. Experience:
While prior experience in fundraising or outreach is not mandatory, any relevant experience in these areas will be considered an asset.
