Job Overview: The Consultant for Communications and Media Relations will be responsible for enhancing the visibility and strategic impact of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana through effective management of media relations, social media platforms, and digital content. This role is pivotal in supporting the Office of the Head of Mission, particularly in visibility efforts on social media. The consultant will have the opportunity to develop professional skills in an international environment while contributing to the OSCE's mission of promoting security and cooperation in Kazakhstan. The position is temporary, lasting for 9 months, and is open exclusively to Kazakhstan nationals and permanent residents.
Duties and Responsibilities: The incumbent will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Social Media Management: Develop and implement a monthly social media content plan, ensuring a minimum of 12-15 quality posts per month across platforms such as Instagram, X, and Facebook. The goal is to increase engagement rates and audience reach compared to baseline metrics.
Website and Digital Content: Prepare and publish at least 2-4 website updates or news items per month, ensuring timely updates of the Office’s webpage and intranet content while maintaining consistency with OSCE branding and communication standards.
Media Relations: Maintain and update a media contact database, facilitate media attendance at key Office events, and secure media coverage for major activities through press releases, interviews, and features.
Event Coverage and Documentation: Provide photo and video coverage of official events, produce short video reels or highlights for major events, and accompany the Head of Mission and senior OSCE officials to events as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in communications and public relations, ideally in international contexts. They should have excellent knowledge of social media best practices, particularly on platforms like Instagram, X, and Facebook. The ability to work with professional photo and video equipment is essential, along with strong writing and communication skills in Russian, Kazakh, and English. Candidates should demonstrate gender awareness and sensitivity, and the ability to work as part of a diverse team while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's Degree (First-level university degree or equivalent) is required for this position. This educational background should ideally be in communications, public relations, or a related field that supports the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in communications and public relations, particularly in international settings. This experience should include managing social media platforms, engaging with media, and producing high-quality content.
Languages: Proficiency in Russian, Kazakh, and English is mandatory for this position. Candidates should possess strong writing and communication skills in these languages to effectively engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: This is a temporary position for 9 months, specifically for Kazakhstan nationals and permanent residents. The contract type is a Special Service Agreement (SSA) or Consultant, with no specific grade assigned. The consultant will be compensated based on qualifications and experience, with payment made in local currency (tenge).
