Job Overview:
The position of Mecanicien- Chauffeur is crucial within the WFP, as it involves maintaining and repairing vehicles and other transport equipment essential for the organization's operations. Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Mecanicien- Chauffeur include:
  • Efficiently performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repair work on WFP vehicles and transport equipment, adhering to manufacturer standards and WFP safety procedures.
  • Conducting regular checks on vehicles, generators, and other equipment to assess their mechanical condition and functionality using diagnostic techniques and computerized tools.
  • Recovering and repairing malfunctioning transport equipment, including damaged WFP vehicles during field missions, while minimizing the risk of further damage and ensuring operational safety.
  • Installing and maintaining advanced equipment on WFP vehicles, such as VHF radios and satellite tracking systems, to enhance communication and operational efficiency.
  • Accurately reporting on mechanical work performed, including any manufacturing defects encountered during repairs, to facilitate informed decision-making and planning.
  • Maintaining all repair tools and equipment in good condition to ensure a safe and clean working environment.
  • Providing technical advice to drivers to improve their skills and ensure safe vehicle operation.
  • Performing other duties as required by the organization.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Mecanicien- Chauffeur position should possess the following qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent command of the French language, both spoken and written, with a good understanding of English.
  • A valid driver's license or certification allowing the operation of utility vehicles or light vehicles in compliance with local regulations.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, supplemented by a technical training program in automotive maintenance or relevant mechanical/technical training. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the foundational knowledge required for the role.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of utility vehicles, light vehicles, and other transport equipment is required. Languages:
Fluency in French at Level B is mandatory, along with a good understanding of English. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required for this position.
