Job Overview: The Programme Associate position is a critical role within UNHCR, primarily focused on supporting the management and implementation of programs aimed at assisting persons of concern. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Associate include supporting the assessment and analysis of the needs of persons of concern, managing the development of a network of partners, and assisting in the selection and retention of partners in accordance with UNHCR policies. The incumbent will provide technical advice to ensure that partnership agreements are established and monitored effectively. Additionally, the Programme Associate will contribute to the development and implementation of monitoring plans, review operations plans and reports, and ensure compliance with established policies and guidelines. The role also involves following up on changes in program performance indicators, supporting field operations with technical advice, and utilizing UNHCR's corporate tools for planning and reporting. The Programme Associate will be responsible for identifying and managing risks, ensuring that decision-making is informed by a thorough understanding of the functional area of work, and performing other duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Programme Associate position must possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Essential qualifications include demonstrated experience in program management, knowledge of Results-Based Management, and proficiency in computer skills, particularly in MS Office with advanced Excel capabilities. Desirable qualifications include completion of UNHCR Learning Programmes related to program management and experience in training and capacity building activities. The candidate should also have strong organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and integrity.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma for candidates with three years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent for those with two years of relevant experience. While specific fields of education are not mandated, a background in social sciences, international relations, or a related field may be advantageous. Candidates are encouraged to have completed relevant training or certifications that enhance their qualifications for the role.
Experience: The level of experience required for the Programme Associate position includes a minimum of three years of relevant experience for candidates with a High School Diploma or two years for those with a Bachelor’s degree.
