Job Overview:
The Programme Specialist, Governance, will play a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA Supplies Partnership, which is the largest thematic trust fund of UNFPA. This position is integral to the Family Planning Programme, focusing on enhancing health systems by improving supply chains, advancing policy, diversifying financing, and expanding access to quality-assured contraceptives and maternal health medicines. The incumbent will manage governance norms and procedures, ensuring effective external communications and supporting multi-stakeholder grants, particularly from the Gates Foundation. The role requires a strategic approach to governance and communication, aimed at fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders and ensuring the successful implementation of the partnership's objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for managing the Secretariat of the UNFPA Supplies Partnership Steering Committee, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, and facilitating communication among members. They will organize subcommittee meetings, ensuring that reports are drafted and disseminated timely. The role includes reviewing and refining governance terms of reference, maintaining a system for tracking data requests, and managing the implementation of the Governance Calendar. Additionally, the Programme Specialist will ensure effective communication regarding governance processes, prepare briefing notes and presentations, and maintain a repository of key messages. They will also provide operational support for managing grants and assist in preparing materials for grant-related activities, ensuring alignment with the overall goals of the UNFPA Supplies Partnership.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in management, international relations, public health, economics, social science, social work, or related fields. They should have at least 5 years of relevant experience in family planning, reproductive health, international development, or public health. Strong writing and communication skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications. The ability to translate complex technical content into clear messages for diverse audiences is crucial, as is experience in managing partnerships and stakeholder engagement.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree is required, preferably in fields related to management, international relations, public health, economics, social science, or social work. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of governance and program management within the context of international development and health initiatives.

Experience:
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required, particularly in areas related to family planning, reproductive health, international development, or program management. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of managing complex projects and engaging with diverse stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and international organizations. Experience in grant management and communications is also highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of other official UN languages is considered an asset. This linguistic capability is important for effective communication with international partners and stakeholders, as well as for the preparation of documents and presentations that may need to be translated or adapted for different audiences.
