Job Overview: The position involves three online volunteers who will assist in various capacities to support the Entrepreneurship Support program. The first volunteer will focus on donor research, identifying potential funding organizations and compiling a structured database with relevant details. The second volunteer will handle partner outreach, drafting professional letters and proposals that align with the organization's mission and objectives. The third volunteer will concentrate on grant proposal writing, ensuring that the proposals meet the specific guidelines of identified donors. This role is crucial in helping the organization secure funding and partnerships that will enhance its programs and support for underserved communities. The volunteers will work remotely and are expected to produce a manageable number of written deliverables each week, contributing to the overall goals of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Donor Research Volunteer: Identify foundations, businesses, and funding organizations that align with the Entrepreneurship Support Program. Compile accurate contact details, funding priorities, eligibility criteria, and deadlines into a structured donor database. Ensure that all information is up-to-date and relevant.
Partner Outreach Volunteer: Draft approximately 12-15 professional introduction letters, 6-8 partnership proposals, and 9-12 tailored thank-you letters throughout the project period. Each letter and proposal must reflect the Association’s mission and objectives, and drafts will be submitted for internal review.
Grant Proposal Writing Volunteer: Draft three tailored grant proposals based on the research conducted by the donor research volunteer. Each proposal must adhere to the guidelines and requirements of the identified donor, ensuring proper formatting and submission instructions are followed. All proposals will be prepared for internal review before submission.
Required Qualifications: Volunteers should possess strong writing and research skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in written form. Familiarity with grant writing and donor research is preferred, but not mandatory. Volunteers must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage their time effectively to meet deadlines. A commitment to the mission of Action Lab for Development and an understanding of social entrepreneurship and community development are essential. Volunteers should also be comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
Educational Background: A background in communications, nonprofit management, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. However, individuals with relevant experience and skills may also be considered regardless of formal education. Knowledge of the nonprofit sector and experience in writing for various audiences will be beneficial.
Experience: While specific experience in donor research, grant writing, or partner outreach is not strictly required, any prior experience in these areas will be advantageous. Volunteers should have a demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written materials and manage multiple tasks effectively. Experience working with diverse communities or in a nonprofit setting is a plus.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as all written materials will be produced in English. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it aligns with the communities served by the organization.
