Job Overview: The position of International Consultant for English Editing and Summarizing involves providing essential services to UN Women by editing, summarizing, and condensing various reports, research, and studies related to gender equality and women's empowerment. The consultant will work closely with the Programme Management Specialist and the Project CoordinationAnalyst to deliver high-quality outputs that contribute to the organization's mission. The consultant's work will focus on summarizing key findings and recommendations from commissioned research on the impact of the war on women's roles in political processes in Ukraine, as well as condensing reports related to the She Drives project. This role is critical in ensuring that UN Women’s findings are communicated effectively and that the organization can leverage evidence-based data to support its initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties:
Summarizing key findings and recommendations from research on the impact of the war on women's roles in political processes in Ukraine, ensuring clarity and conciseness in the presentation of information.
Condensing the report of the She Drives pilot phase, which includes identifying challenges, lessons learned, and recommendations for the implementation of the next phase of the project.
Preparing a results-based progress report on additional tasks as requested by UN Women, ensuring that all outputs meet the organization's standards for quality and accuracy.
Collaborating with UN Women staff to gather necessary information and insights for the reports.
Adhering to deadlines and managing time effectively to complete the assigned tasks within the stipulated working days.
Required Qualifications: The position requires the following qualifications:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in gender studies, international development, sociology, or a related field is required.
A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently are essential.
Excellent English communication and writing skills are mandatory, with fluency in any other UN official language considered an asset.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as gender studies, international development, or sociology. Alternatively, a first-level university degree along with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project or programme management certification is advantageous and can enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 7 years of progressively responsible work experience in UN Women programme coordination and reporting, as well as UN system coordination. Experience in coordinating and reporting on UN Women programmes is required, along with familiarity in preparing the gender sub-chapter of the RDNA report. Knowledge of the national development context in Ukraine is considered an asset. The consultant should demonstrate excellent analytical skills, a strong drive for results, and the capacity to work independently.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of any other UN official language is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is home-based and remote, meaning the consultant will not be required to travel to Kyiv. The assignment will span a maximum of 50 working days between 16 March and 10 December 2026, with specific deadlines for deliverables outlined in the job description. The contractor's performance will be evaluated based on criteria such as timeliness, responsibility, initiative, communication, efficiency, accuracy, and quality of the products delivered. Payment will be contingent upon the successful delivery of each output, and all selected candidates will undergo rigorous reference and background checks to ensure adherence to UN Women’s policies and standards.
