Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in the dissemination of outputs, findings, and policy recommendations from the project titled 'Science, Technology and Innovation Parks for sustainable development: building expertise in policy and practice in selected Asian and African countries.' This position is expected to ensure the successful implementation of the project, which runs from March 2, 2026, to May 29, 202
  • The consultant will work under the supervision of the Chief of the Science, Technology and Innovation Development Section (STIDS) within the Technology, Innovation and Knowledge Development Branch (TIKDB) of UNCTAD. The role involves preparing various materials for dissemination, organizing events, and contributing to the final project report, thereby supporting the overall objectives of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the effective implementation of the project. These tasks include:
  • Preparing pull quotes and concise summaries of chapters or sections of the policy toolkit, ensuring compliance with UNCTAD's publication and branding requirements.
  • Drafting notes on findings and formulating policy recommendations to be included in UNCTAD reports or other relevant documents.
  • Organizing dissemination events to launch the project's written outputs, including the policy toolkit, the STI park expert network, and an eLearning course.
  • Creating presentations for use at dissemination events, including a global online event and a session during the 29th CSTD annual session in Geneva on April 2
  • Drafting the final project report covering the period from April 2023 to April 2026, in alignment with the requirements of the 2030 Agenda sub-fund.
  • Providing high-quality information to external evaluators as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or higher) in economics, international relations, or political science. Additionally, a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis is required, with at least two years specifically focused on policy issues related to Science, Technology, and Innovation for development. Experience in preparing project reports is also necessary, demonstrating the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable insights.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree, specifically a Master's degree or higher, in fields such as economics, international relations, or political science. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and analytical skills to contribute effectively to the project.

Experience:
The consultant should have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis.
