Job Overview: The Project Manager position is situated within the Inclusive Labour Markets, Wages and Working Conditions Branch (INWORK) of the Conditions of Work and Equality Department (WORKQUALITY) at the ILO. This role is pivotal in implementing projects that aim to promote quality employment and equality in the labor market. The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and evaluation of project activities, ensuring they align with ILO policies and strategies. This includes preparing operational plans, managing budgets, and providing technical support to various stakeholders, including government institutions and social partners. The Project Manager will also be tasked with strengthening relationships with ILO constituents and promoting the organization's values and policies in relevant technical areas. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying challenges and developing strategies to overcome them, as well as engaging in resource mobilization efforts to secure funding for future initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee the effective implementation of the project, ensuring compliance with ILO policies and strategies.
Manage project budgets, including preparation and monitoring of financial reports.
Supervise project staff and manage human resources efficiently.
Provide technical advice and support to government institutions and social partners.
Strengthen relationships with stakeholders, including NGOs and donors.
Organize events for knowledge exchange and promote ILO's values.
Liaise with other UN agencies to enhance project visibility.
Promote gender equality and non-discrimination in project activities.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in economics or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) with an additional two years of relevant experience will be accepted. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of ILO policies and procedures, particularly in relation to labor markets and working conditions. Proven ability to manage projects effectively and to provide policy advice is essential. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are required, along with the capacity to work in a multicultural environment and promote gender-sensitive practices.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in economics or another relevant field is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) may be accepted if accompanied by additional relevant experience. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of labor economics and social policies.
Experience: A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience is required, including experience at the international level. Familiarity with ILO policies and procedures, as well as experience working with government institutions and social partners, is advantageous. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing projects and engaging with diverse stakeholders in the labor sector.
Languages: Excellent knowledge of one of the ILO's working languages (English, French, or Spanish) is mandatory, along with a good working knowledge of another language. Knowledge of an additional UN language would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.
Additional Notes: The position is a fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of renewal up to three years, subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
