Job Overview: The Consultant for the Development Action Platform will play a crucial role in addressing the Sudan regional crisis by providing timely and reliable information to development partners. This position involves collaborating with various UN agencies, including UN-Habitat and the United Nations DevelopmentCoordination Office (UNDCO), to create a multi-stakeholder platform that responds to the needs of displaced individuals and affected communities in Sudan and neighboring countries. The consultant will be responsible for synthesizing data, conducting research, and managing content for the platform, ensuring that it serves as a valuable resource for stakeholders involved in humanitarian, development, and peace efforts. The role requires a proactive approach to facilitate discussions with governments and partners, support analysis of development actions, and improve communication strategies to enhance visibility and engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Consultant include:
Researching, synthesizing, and packaging country-level information and analysis for the Development Action Platform, including reviewing settlement plans and mapping existing interventions.
Building new content and analysis for the platform in collaboration with UNHCR teams and partners, including drafting content for various countries and sectors.
Regularly updating and managing existing content for country and sector pages, ensuring that information is current and relevant.
Producing news updates for the platform's 'What’s New' section in collaboration with UNHCR teams.
Preparing briefing materials for partners on the Development Action Platform.
Contributing to the development of communication materials, including videos and newsletters.
Identifying operational and technical needs to support integrated settlements and urban interventions.
Supporting the drafting of project proposals to secure funding for integrated settlement approaches.
Leading lessons learned exercises and developing country case studies on integrated settlement approaches, including creating infographics and multimedia assets.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a strong background in research, data analysis, and knowledge management, particularly in the context of humanitarian and development work. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with the Sudan regional crisis and experience in integrated settlement approaches will be advantageous. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Educational Background: A master's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates with relevant certifications in project management or data analysis will be preferred. Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in humanitarian or development contexts, with a focus on data analysis, research, and knowledge management.
