Job Overview:
The Communication Associate (G-6) plays a vital role in supporting the implementation of UNICEF's communication and advocacy strategy within Kazakhstan. This position involves technical and administrative support, contributing to the maintenance of UNICEF's digital presence, producing communication materials, and ensuring visibility of UNICEF's work and impact in the region. The Communication Associate will work closely with the Communication Specialist to plan, design, implement, monitor, and evaluate communication initiatives that align with the Country Office's advocacy and communication strategy. This includes managing social and digital media platforms, producing engaging content, and supporting various events and campaigns aimed at influencing policies and generating resources for child rights programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in planning and executing communication initiatives that support the advocacy and communication strategy of the Country Office.
  • Create and manage multimedia content for social media and websites, ensuring high-quality video and photo editing.
  • Produce communication materials that effectively convey UNICEF's mission and impact.
  • Support the organization and execution of events and campaigns to raise awareness and mobilize support for child rights.
  • Monitor and analyze social media engagement and effectiveness, utilizing relevant tools and technologies.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance UNICEF's visibility and strengthen partnerships.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of child rights issues and relevant policies to inform communication strategies.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication platforms.
  • Provide administrative support related to communication activities, including reporting and documentation.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to communication, media, or a relevant field.
  • At least 6 years of relevant administrative or clerical work experience is required.
  • Competency in creating and managing multimedia content for social media and websites is essential.
  • Strong copywriting skills and knowledge of social media monitoring technology are assets.
  • Familiarity with design and social media management software such as Canva, Hootsuite, Sony Vegas, or MovAvi is highly desirable.
  • Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The position requires completion of secondary education, with a preference for candidates who have pursued technical or university courses related to communication, media, or a relevant field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate possesses the foundational knowledge necessary for effective communication and advocacy work.

Experience:
Candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of relevant administrative or clerical work experience. This experience should ideally include roles that involved communication, media management, or advocacy, particularly within a UN system agency or similar organization.
