Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Programme Officer include assessing and analyzing the needs of forcibly displaced and stateless persons using an Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective. The officer will support the development of multi-year protection and solutions strategies, ensuring alignment with corporate priorities. Responsibilities also include assisting in the planning process, revising and analyzing plans and reports, and ensuring compliance with established policies and guidelines. The officer will broaden partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance the protection response and ensure effective implementation of partnership agreements. Monitoring approaches and tools will be developed to maintain consistency across the region, and the officer will contribute to the UNHCR programming community of practice. Additionally, the officer will oversee the follow-up of audit observations related to programmatic issues and manage risks impacting objectives in the area of responsibility.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience with an undergraduate degree, two years with a graduate degree, or one year with a doctorate. Essential qualifications include demonstrated experience in program management, familiarity with Results-Based Management, and knowledge of field operations and the centrality of protection in programming. Desirable qualifications include experience in coordination within an inter-agency context and program management training.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a degree in Economics, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or another relevant field. Additionally, candidates should have completed a Certification Programme in Programme Management (CP-PM).
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience for candidates with an undergraduate degree, two years for those with a graduate degree, or one year for those with a doctorate. Experience in program management, particularly in a humanitarian or refugee context, is essential, along with familiarity with Results-Based Management and the principles of targeting.
Languages: For this position, knowledge of English is mandatory, along with the UN working language of the duty station if it is not English. For national professional jobs, knowledge of the local language is also required. Additional language skills may be advantageous but are not mandatory.
