Job Overview:
The Nutrition Manager position at UNICEF in the State of Palestine is critical for overseeing strategy development and supporting proposal development in response to the ongoing challenges faced by children in the region. The role involves managing and advising on the annual work plan, coordinating work progress, and providing technical assistance to colleagues. The Nutrition Manager will also support the West Bank and Gaza teams in managing nutrition supplies, ensuring that comprehensive data on maternal and child nutrition is available for policy development. This position requires frequent travel into Gaza and involves significant responsibilities in program management, monitoring, and delivery of results, as well as advocacy and partnership building.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Management and advisory support to the Chief: Provide advice on establishing annual work plans, developing strategies, and determining priorities. Monitor work progress and ensure results are achieved according to performance standards.
  • Programme development and planning: Support the management of nutrition supplies and provide technical guidance on situation analysis for the nutrition sector. Participate in strategic discussions and prepare proposals aligned with UNICEF’s strategic plans.
  • Programme management, monitoring, and delivery of results: Collaborate with partners to establish performance indicators and assess program effectiveness. Participate in evaluations and prepare reports to inform stakeholders.
  • Advisory services and technical support: Advise government officials and partners on nutrition policies and strategies. Participate in emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Advocacy, networking, and partnership building: Build partnerships with stakeholders and promote awareness of nutrition programs.
  • Innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building: Promote innovative approaches and best practices in nutrition programs and enhance stakeholder competencies.

Required Qualifications:
An advanced university degree in nutrition, public health, or a related field is required. A minimum of eight years of professional experience in nutrition, public health, or related areas is necessary, with relevant experience in emergencies preferred. Experience in program development and management within a UN agency is an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in fields such as nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, or health sciences. The educational qualifications must be from an accredited institution recognized in the World Higher Education Database.

Experience:
The position requires at least eight years of professional experience in nutrition or public health, particularly in developing countries. Experience in nutrition emergencies and program/project management within a UN system agency is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of other UN languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish is considered an asset.
