Job Overview:
The Reintegration Officer will be stationed in Geneva and will play a pivotal role in implementing UNHCR’s updated reintegration guidelines. This position aims to equip country operations and partners with the necessary tools to design and deliver sustainable reintegration programs that align with development goals. The officer will provide technical guidance and strategic advice to ensure that returnees are integrated into national and sub-national development plans, enhancing their access to essential services, secure housing, and livelihoods. The role also involves contributing to the development of comprehensive reintegration strategies at various levels, engaging with key stakeholders, and promoting solutions that foster social cohesion and economic recovery. The officer will be responsible for strengthening partnerships with development actors and ensuring that reintegration efforts are context-specific and sustainable, ultimately contributing to the long-term stability of displaced populations and host communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Reintegration Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including supporting the implementation of UNHCR’s reintegration guidelines, providing technical guidance to country operations, and contributing to the development of solutions-oriented strategies. The officer will engage with development partners and financial institutions to identify collaboration opportunities and leverage funding for reintegration initiatives. Additionally, the officer will analyze national development plans and advise on how to effectively integrate reintegration priorities into these frameworks. The role includes supporting Regional Bureaux and country offices in fulfilling commitments made at the Global Refugee Forum, engaging with various stakeholders to ensure that humanitarian responses are aligned with development goals. The officer will also be responsible for collecting and disseminating best practices, facilitating capacity-building initiatives, and providing technical support to Resident Coordinator Offices and Durable Solutions Working Groups.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in economics, development studies, political science, policy studies, or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of relevant experience is required for those with a Bachelor’s degree, 5 years for those with a Master’s degree, and 4 years for those with a Doctorate. Experience in reintegration, local integration, and development contexts, particularly in post-conflict settings, is essential. Candidates should have a strong understanding of durable solutions frameworks and sustainable responses, as well as experience engaging with development partners and coordinating inter-agency efforts. A deep understanding of sustainable refugee reintegration solutions and proven experience in development-oriented programming are also required.

Educational Background:

Experience:

Languages:
