Job Overview: The Project Manager will oversee the implementation of the Forest Flavors Ghana project, which aims to strengthen cocoa and shea value chains and create sustainable jobs for youth. This role involves managing project activities, coordinating with partners, and ensuring high-quality programming in line with CRS's mission. The Project Manager will report to the Director for Agriculture, Livelihoods, and Landscape, and will be based in Tamale, Ghana, with frequent travel across Northern, Western, and Bono East Regions. The position requires strong project management skills and a deep understanding of the program area to enhance the project's impact and effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Manager will be responsible for organizing and leading the implementation of project activities as per the detailed implementation plan, ensuring adherence to CRS program quality principles and donor requirements. Key responsibilities include: coordinating project evaluation activities, analyzing implementation challenges, overseeing relationships with local stakeholders, conducting inspections at project sites, tracking resource use through budget reviews, providing capacity building and technical support, coordinating logistical and administrative support, and ensuring complete project documentation. The role also involves preparing reports and assisting with project planning and adjustments as necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in agriculture (Economics, Extension, Agribusiness), Business Administration, Development Finance, or Entrepreneurship. A minimum of 4 years of work experience in project management, particularly in agriculture financing, cocoa and shea sectors, or related fields is required. Experience working with partners, participatory action planning, and community engagement is preferred, along with staff supervision experience and proficiency in MS Office applications.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as agriculture, business administration, or development finance is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of agricultural projects and the economic factors influencing them.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in project management, ideally within the agriculture sector, particularly in cocoa and shea value chains or related areas. Experience in managing projects for NGOs and familiarity with community engagement practices are highly valued.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as required.
Additional Notes: The position is full-time and based in Tamale, Ghana, with a travel requirement of up to 50%.
