Job Overview: This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is situated within the Office of the Director in the UN Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH), which is part of the Office of Support Operations (OSO) within the Department of Operational Support (DOS). The DOS was established to provide comprehensive operational support and advisory services to various UN entities, including departments and peace operations. The DHMOSH focuses on delivering essential healthcare services and ensuring occupational safety and health for UN personnel. The intern will be expected to assist in developing health-related projects, create data visualization reports using Power BI, monitor health policy developments, and support the preparation of official documents. The role also involves conducting research, assisting with reporting and content drafting, and organizing events, all while working under the supervision of the Medical Director.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the development of health-related projects for DHMOSH; creating Power BI reports and other data visualizations of health-related data; monitoring health policy developments relevant to DHMOSH; preparing official documents with attention to grammar, content, and formatting; conducting research on medical and psychosocial policies; assisting in drafting and editing content for various media; organizing special events and meetings; and performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This role is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience in the field of healthcare management and occupational safety within the UN framework.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to further study or work in a field relevant to DHMOSH. They must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent or higher); be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (Bachelor's level or equivalent); or have graduated with a university degree. Additionally, candidates should show a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to its ideals. They must also demonstrate the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs. A background in risk/crisis management or emergency care is desirable, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Power BI, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. An orientation in statistical data analytics and a background in public health or data management are also advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this internship include being enrolled in a graduate program or being in the final year of an undergraduate program. Candidates who have recently graduated with a university degree are also eligible to apply. The focus should be on fields related to healthcare management, public health, data management, or similar areas that align with the responsibilities of the internship.
Experience: No prior working experience is required to apply for this internship.
