Job Overview:
The Team Leader role is a part-time position (0.8 FTE) focused on leading the Gold Coast After Hours Specialist Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Mobile Support Program. This role is critical in providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of program operations, ensuring that the services offered are of high quality and meet the needs of children and families. The position requires a commitment to trauma-informed practices and a collaborative approach to support both staff and clients. The successful candidate will work within a team to create lasting change for children, providing guidance and support to staff while also engaging with external partners and stakeholders. The role is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people, and who are eager to develop their leadership skills in a supportive environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Team Leader include:
  • Providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of program operations on-site, ensuring that all activities align with organizational goals and standards.
  • Supporting staff wellbeing through reflective practice and client-centered decision-making, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Responding to emerging risks and maintaining service integrity, ensuring that the program meets the highest standards of care.
  • Liaising with internal teams and external partners to coordinate services and share information effectively.
  • Completing rostering and timesheets to ensure accurate tracking of staff hours and program operations.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development and training to enhance leadership skills and knowledge of domestic and family violence support services.
  • Promoting a culture of inclusivity and diversity within the team, ensuring that all voices are heard and valued.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Team Leader position should possess the following qualifications:
  • A genuine passion for supporting and managing a high-performing team to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • A demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed and culturally safe practices, with the ability to apply these principles in a practical setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information and engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in complex situations.
  • Familiarity with program requirements and organizational processes, ensuring compliance and effective service delivery.
  • Confidence in navigating challenging scenarios and supporting team cohesion through effective leadership.

Educational Background:
Candidates for the Team Leader role should have a relevant educational background, ideally in social work, psychology, or a related field. A degree or equivalent qualification in a discipline that focuses on child welfare, domestic and family violence, or community services is preferred. Additional certifications or training in trauma-informed care, leadership, or program management would be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have significant experience in domestic and family violence support services, ideally in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience working with children and families in crisis situations is essential, as well as a proven track record of managing teams and delivering high-quality services. Candidates should be familiar with the challenges faced by vulnerable populations and possess the skills necessary to navigate these complexities effectively.

Languages:
While the primary language for this position is English, candidates who are multilingual or have proficiency in languages relevant to the communities served by the organization will be considered advantageous. This includes languages spoken by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as other cultural groups represented in the Gold Coast area.

Additional Notes:
This is a part-time, maximum term role with a commitment of 30.4 hours per week, specifically scheduled for Tuesday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Wednesday to Friday from 2 PM to 10 PM. The position is set to continue until September 30th, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on program needs and funding. The role offers an award rate salary of $55.72 per hour, along with access to full PBI salary packaging benefits.
