Job Overview:
The intern will play a crucial role in providing secretariat services to the Nutrition Cluster, collaborating closely with the National Food & Nutrition Commission and supporting the Chief Nutrition at UNICEF. The intern's responsibilities will include preparing for and following up on Nutrition Cooperating Partners meetings, as well as providing secretariat services for nutrition section meetings. Additionally, the intern will analyze and summarize routine and publicly available nutrition data to inform advocacy and decision-making, thereby contributing to UNICEF's mission of improving child health and nutrition in Zambia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide secretariat services for the Nutrition Cluster, ensuring effective communication and coordination among stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation and follow-up of Nutrition Cooperating Partners meetings, including agenda setting, minute-taking, and action item tracking.
  • Support the Chief Nutrition in organizing nutrition section meetings, ensuring all logistical arrangements are in place.
  • Analyze and summarize nutrition data from various sources to support advocacy efforts and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of nutrition programs and initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to meetings and data analysis.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in nutrition and public health.

Required Qualifications:
  • Final year student or recent graduate (within the last two years) with an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, Nutrition, or Public Health.
  • Strong academic performance as evidenced by recent university records.
  • A qualification in Nutrition, Food Sciences, or Public Health is considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience in planning and organizing meetings and events, even if not in a formal workplace setting.
  • Experience in data extraction and analysis is required, showcasing the ability to work with quantitative and qualitative data effectively.
  • Strong writing skills, with samples available upon request, to ensure clear and effective communication.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a relevant undergraduate degree, ideally in Human Development fields such as Social Sciences, Nutrition, or Public Health. A strong academic record is essential, and additional qualifications in Nutrition or related fields are advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires demonstrable experience in organizing meetings and events, as well as experience in data extraction and analysis. This experience does not necessarily need to be from a formal workplace but should reflect the candidate's ability to manage tasks effectively and contribute to team objectives.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, along with at least one other local language to facilitate communication within the community and among stakeholders.
