The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Communications and Advocacy Officer, assisting in the execution of digital and social media communications for the UN RCO. This role is essential for enhancing the visibility and impact of the UN's work in Mongolia, particularly in the areas of sustainable development and interagency collaboration. The intern is expected to engage in various tasks related to digital communications, including content creation, social media management, and graphic design. The internship is full-time, requiring the intern to work five days a week, and is expected to last for a duration of up to six months. Although the internship is unpaid, it provides valuable experience and exposure to the workings of the United Nations and its mission in Mongolia.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to digital communications and advocacy within the UN Resident Coordinator's Office. Key responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of digital communication strategies to promote the UN's work in Mongolia.
  • Creating and curating content for social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, to engage with the public and raise awareness about UN initiatives.
  • Designing graphics and visual materials for digital campaigns, ensuring alignment with the UN's branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Supporting the organization of events, seminars, and conferences, including logistical arrangements and promotional activities.
  • Collaborating with other UN agencies and stakeholders to ensure coordinated communication efforts and joint messaging.
  • Monitoring and analyzing social media engagement and digital communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies.
  • Conducting research on relevant topics related to sustainable development and the UN's work in Mongolia to inform communication efforts.
  • Participating in team meetings and contributing ideas for improving communication practices and outreach efforts.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).
  • Possess digital communications skills and be a proficient user of graphic design software and social media platforms.
  • Familiarity with the concept of sustainable development is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working, volunteering, or interning in organizing events, missions, seminars, and conferences will be an asset.
  • Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter.
