Job Overview: The Cloud System Administrator will play a crucial role in the day-to-day development activities of the application development team within UNRWA. This position involves the design, testing, development, and deployment of eUNRWA solutions, which include web applications and interfaces that connect with both internal and external partner systems. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that all software solutions are high-performing, optimized, and efficient, adhering to the defined standards throughout the software development lifecycle. The role requires collaboration with other units within the Digital Impact, Technology and Innovation Department (DITID) to provide technical solutions that meet the needs of various business processes. The expected duration of this consultancy is 12 months, during which the Cloud System Administrator will be expected to deliver on various technical outputs and tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities: The specific duties and responsibilities of the Cloud System Administrator include, but are not limited to: supporting the technical handover of eUNRWA infrastructure built on Azure cloud app services and Kubernetes; performing application systems administration tasks, including managing MS SQL server database software, software patch management, and software upgrades; conducting systems health and performance monitoring checks to ensure optimal functionality and mitigate risks; providing maintenance and monitoring to ensure system availability and efficient performance; preparing and presenting technical reports on application performance and operational issues; maintaining up-to-date documentation of system inventory and client configurations; proactively identifying and mitigating operational and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security risks; preparing comprehensive technical documentation and user manuals; participating in agile ceremonies and providing regular progress updates; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include a university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer sciences, information technology, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in Azure cloud infrastructure and systems administration. A strong working knowledge and experience with MS Windows Server Operating System and MS SQL database software and administration is essential. Candidates should also have experience with DevOps and Azure Cloud computing, building and using Docker Containers or AKS, and familiarity with Azure B2C and Entra ID. Knowledge of custom flows is desirable, and experience with Power Platform, mobile apps, and Dynamics365 is advantageous. A strong understanding of networking concepts, virtualization, security, and containerization technologies is also required, along with experience in DevOps pipelines for CI/CD and automation tools and scripting languages such as Terraform and PowerShell.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer sciences, information technology, or a related discipline. Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in Azure cloud infrastructure and systems administration. Languages: Fluency in both Arabic and English is required for this position, as these are the working languages of UNRWA. Proficiency in both languages is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the organization and with external partners.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is based in UNRWA HQA in Amman, Jordan. The selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration equivalent to A16 Step 1, amounting to JOD 1,190.43 for each fully completed month. The duration of the contract is up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance.
