Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is within the Climate Change Unit of ECLAC, specifically in the Sustainable Development and Human Settlements Division located in Santiago, Chile. The internship is expected to last between 3 to 6 months, depending on the needs of the office. Interns will work under the supervision of an Economics Officer and will be involved in providing research assistance to the team. The role requires the intern to produce both analytical and quantitative elements necessary for the preparation of documents and reports as part of the regular work program and any extraordinary tasks assigned to the Unit. Interns will also be responsible for collecting qualitative and quantitative data related to climate change, carbon pricing, climate finance, and fossil fuel subsidies, as well as conducting literature surveys on climate change impacts and policy responses.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Candidates must be students in their final year of a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program, or have completed such programs.
Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in a relevant academic program. This includes being in the final year of a bachelor's degree or having completed a master's or Ph.D. program. The field of study should be closely related to the internship focus, which includes economics, environmental science, public policy, or other related disciplines.
Experience:
No prior professional work experience is required for this internship position. However, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship, particularly in areas related to climate change, economics, or data analysis.
Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is required as it is the working language of ECLAC. Knowledge of English is also required for the internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's profile.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. All costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
