Job Overview: The Enumerator position is a crucial role within IOM, focusing on the collection of data related to migration through the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM). This role involves conducting both quantitative and qualitative interviews in the field with individuals from host and migrant communities. The Enumerator will work under the direct supervision of IOM’s Senior Project Associate and Field Coordinator, ensuring that all data collection activities are conducted ethically and respectfully. The position requires a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards throughout the data collection process. The Enumerator will be responsible for reporting daily progress to the Team Leader, addressing any issues that arise during interviews, and utilizing established mobile data collection tools to ensure accurate and efficient data gathering. This role is integral to IOM's mission of promoting international cooperation on migration issues and providing humanitarian assistance to migrants in need.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Enumerator will have a variety of responsibilities, including: conducting quantitative and qualitative interviews in the field with individuals from both host and migrant communities; maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards during the data collection process; reporting daily progress to the Team Leader and informing them of any issues or incomplete interviews; conducting interviews in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner; utilizing established mobile data collection tools for efficient data gathering; submitting daily updates to the Team Leader on progress, challenges, and observations; and performing any other duties assigned by the direct supervisor. The Enumerator must ensure that all data collected is accurate and reflective of the communities being studied, and they must be prepared to adapt to various situations that may arise in the field.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Enumerator position should possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations. They should demonstrate a commitment to ethical standards and confidentiality in data collection. Additionally, candidates should have a basic understanding of migration issues and the challenges faced by migrants and host communities. Familiarity with mobile data collection tools is highly desirable, as is the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Additional Notes: This position is a volunteer assignment, not employment, and candidates should be aware that the allowances provided are not to be understood as a salary or compensation for work. The monthly living allowance is USD 645.93, paid in Turkish Lira, and includes private health, dental, life, and dismemberment insurance coverage. Candidates are responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials.
