Job Overview: The Project Assistant position is crucial for supporting the project team in the day-to-day operations of EU-funded initiatives aimed at enhancing the agricultural sector in Ukraine. The role involves assisting in the preparation of various project-related documents, managing communication with stakeholders, and ensuring the smooth implementation of project activities. The Project Assistant will work closely with the Programme team and Project Coordinator to facilitate the execution of project plans, monitor progress, and address any challenges that may arise during implementation. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and local authorities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to: supporting the Programme team in the preparation of work plans, procurement plans, and communication plans; drafting purchase requisitions and processing related documentation; preparing data for operational updates and reporting; managing partner relationships and reviewing progress reports; collecting and processing project data; monitoring project activities and proposing corrective actions; contributing to the preparation of progress and financial reports; providing logistical support for project activities; facilitating collaboration between FAO and other stakeholders; assisting in the preparation of community surveys; organizing workshops and training sessions; coordinating procurement of services and goods; guiding the work of consultants; supporting field trip preparations; and performing any other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Agriculture, Business Administration, Economics, Rural Development, or a related technical field. Additionally, they should have at least two years of experience in supporting administrative and operational project activities, as well as experience in facilitating communication between stakeholders. A strong working knowledge of English and Ukrainian is essential, with proficiency at Level C or native level. Candidates must also be nationals of Ukraine and demonstrate core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, and building effective relationships.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a relevant field such as Agriculture, Business Administration, Economics, or Rural Development. Candidates should ensure that their qualifications are recognized by the World Higher Education Database (WHED).
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience in supporting project activities, particularly in administrative and operational roles. Experience in liaising with stakeholders and facilitating communication is also essential. Field experience will be considered an advantage, as will an advanced level degree.
Languages: Proficiency in both English and Ukrainian is mandatory, with candidates expected to have a working knowledge at Level C or native level in both languages. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
