Job Overview:
The position involves designing and implementing an interactive map that creatively registers and communicates transformative actions driven by territories, localities, and populations. The consultant will be responsible for developing a user-friendly interface that allows stakeholders to visualize and interact with data related to these actions. This role requires a blend of technical skills in mapping and data visualization, as well as a strong understanding of the social and cultural contexts of the regions involved. The consultant will work closely with local communities and organizations to gather relevant data and ensure that the map accurately reflects the initiatives and transformations occurring in these areas. The project is expected to last for 2.5 months, concluding by May 31, 2026, and aims to enhance communication and engagement among various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a needs assessment to understand the requirements for the interactive map from various stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with local communities and organizations to gather data on transformative actions in their territories.
  • Design the layout and functionality of the interactive map, ensuring it is user-friendly and accessible.
  • Develop the technical aspects of the map, including data integration and visualization tools.
  • Test the interactive map with users and gather feedback for improvements.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on how to use the map effectively.
  • Prepare documentation and reports on the development process and outcomes of the project.
  • Ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated timeline and meets the quality standards set by UNDP.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing interactive maps or similar data visualization projects.
  • Strong technical skills in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and mapping software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Familiarity with the social and cultural dynamics of Colombian territories is an asset.
  • Knowledge of sustainable development principles and practices is preferred.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Data Science, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an asset for this position.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in GIS, data visualization, or related fields is required. Experience working with international organizations or in development projects is highly desirable. Previous work in Colombia or similar contexts will be an advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the project will involve working closely with local communities and stakeholders. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with UNDP and other international partners. Knowledge of indigenous languages spoken in the regions may be considered a plus.

Additional Notes:
This position is for an individual contractor and is expected to be a full-time engagement for the duration of the project. The contract will last for 2.5 months, with the possibility of extension depending on project needs and funding availability. Compensation will be based on the contractor's qualifications and experience, in accordance with UNDP's policies.
