Job Overview: The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operational management of the project in Darfur, ensuring that the project aligns with HI's strategic objectives. This role requires an exemplary manager who embodies HI's values and serves as a role model for the team. The Project Manager will clarify operational objectives, drive necessary changes, and foster an environment of innovation and collaboration. The position involves contributing to the development of the program's operational strategy, drafting project proposals, and ensuring the implementation of the project in accordance with the logical framework and budget. The Project Manager will also be responsible for project reporting, managing partnerships, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies and global technical standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Management: Act as an exemplary manager by embodying HI's values and serving as a role model. Organize operational management, oversee team performance, and facilitate problem-solving. Ensure compliance with the code of conduct and institutional policies.
Strategy and Steering: Contribute to the development of the program's operational strategy and draft new project proposals.
Operational Implementation: Ensure project implementation aligns with the logical framework and budget. Manage project activities, reporting, and partnerships. Ensure compliance with institutional policies and global standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in humanitarian or development work, particularly in security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, livelihoods, or emergency response. Proven experience in conducting assessments in complex and conflict-affected environments is essential. Familiarity with cash-transfer programming and alternative food security interventions is required. Candidates should understand disability, gender, age, and vulnerability issues in humanitarian settings. Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Kobo Toolbox) are necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to produce clear and concise reports. Candidates should be team players, able to work independently under challenging conditions, and willing to travel frequently to remote, insecure areas. Proven experience in project management in emergency contexts is also required.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in humanitarian studies, social sciences, international development, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in project management or related areas may be beneficial.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in humanitarian or development work, particularly in areas related to food security, livelihoods, or emergency response. Experience in project management within emergency contexts is crucial, along with a proven track record of conducting assessments in complex environments.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic or other local languages is considered an asset and would be advantageous for effective communication within the region.
Additional Notes: This position is for an international contract lasting 2 months, starting from 15th February 202
The contract includes social cover adapted to the individual's situation, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. Repatriation insurance is provided by HI. The salary starts at 2448€ gross per month, depending on experience, with additional benefits including a per diem of 738€ net per month, a hardship allowance of 500€ net per month, 25 days of paid leave per year, and rest and recuperation (R&R) days according to the mission level (5 days every 8 weeks). Housing will be collective and provided by HI.
