Job Overview: The Mental Health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Coordinator will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the implementation of MHPSS projects in Ireland. This position involves working closely with the Chief of Mission and collaborating with various units at IOM Headquarters, Regional, and Sub-regional offices. The MHPSS Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that project activities are effectively developed, rolled out, and managed across multiple sites. The role requires a strong focus on maintaining compliance with IOM’s policies and global standards, as well as managing financial, logistical, and administrative aspects of the projects. The MHPSS Coordinator will also be tasked with monitoring project implementation, evaluating results, and proposing corrective actions as necessary. Additionally, the role includes promoting gender integration and human rights within project frameworks, contributing to the development of monitoring and evaluation tools, and supporting information management activities.
Duties and Responsibilities: The MHPSS Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: coordinating the overall implementation of MHPSS projects in Ireland; overseeing financial, logistical, administrative, and technical aspects of the projects; monitoring project implementation according to work plans; documenting and evaluating results; identifying causes of deviations and proposing corrective actions; promoting gender and human rights integration in project implementation; developing monitoring and evaluation tools; supporting information management activities; identifying potential areas for project development; contributing to discussions with Senior Management; coordinating with government entities and stakeholders; planning and delivering capacity-building activities; supervising the MHPSS Unit team; supporting recruitment and training of project staff; ensuring compliance with IOM rules and regulations; and undertaking duty travel as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution, along with four years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields with two years of relevant professional experience is acceptable. Candidates should have experience in liaising with governmental authorities, coordinating project implementation with budgets over EUR 2 million, supervising small teams, and working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. Prior experience in MHPSS provision and with international humanitarian organizations is advantageous.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from accredited institutions. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A Master’s degree in these fields is also acceptable, provided the candidate has the requisite professional experience.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in relevant fields, particularly in liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations. Experience in coordinating project implementation with significant budgets (over EUR 2 million) is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience supervising and coordinating small teams in operational or project settings, as well as working with vulnerable populations, including migrants and refugees. Experience in the provision of MHPSS services and with international humanitarian organizations is considered an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position. IOM’s official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process, which could include written and/or oral assessments.
Additional Notes: The position is subject to funding confirmation, and the selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar positions for a period of 24 months. National Professional Officers must be nationals of the country of employment. The appointment is contingent upon certification of medical fitness, verification of residency, visa, and government authorizations where applicable.
