Job Overview: The Project Coordinator position at IOM Finland involves supporting the organization's engagements in Return, Readmission, and Reintegration, with a particular emphasis on repatriation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Head of Office and the Programme Coordinator, collaborating with various units within IOM and external partners. The role requires planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring project activities, as well as compiling and analyzing data related to specific project topics. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for budget monitoring, administrative coordination, drafting reports and correspondence, organizing meetings and training sessions, and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders. This position is crucial for ensuring the successful execution of IOM's projects and initiatives in Finland, particularly in the context of migration and reintegration.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include:
Supporting the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities related to return, readmission, and reintegration.
Compiling, summarizing, analyzing, and presenting information and data on specific project topics.
Monitoring budget implementation and proposing necessary adjustments.
Acting as the focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation, liaising with various organizational units and external parties.
Drafting status reports and identifying shortfalls in delivery, suggesting corrective measures.
Preparing and updating reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, and other documentation.
Organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and preparing training materials.
Responding to complex information requests and inquiries, and maintaining files and records.
Participating in meetings and conferences, and liaising with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, NGOs, donors, and other stakeholders. 1
Monitoring the work of implementing partners and reporting any non-compliance. 1
Providing inputs for the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and concept papers. 1
Offering guidance and training to other staff in the unit and supervising them as assigned. 1

Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Project Coordinator position include:
A school diploma with six years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.
Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs.
Experience working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, and other vulnerable groups.
Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is advantageous.
Experience in project management, including the use of results-based approaches to plan, monitor, and assess project activities.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess either a school diploma with six years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, or Law from an accredited institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience if they hold a Bachelor’s degree, or six years if they possess only a school diploma. Experience should include liaising with governmental authorities, working with migrants and vulnerable groups, and project management in a humanitarian context. Familiarity with results-based approaches to project planning and assessment is also essential.
Languages: Fluency in English and Swedish is required, both oral and written. Knowledge of any language(s) spoken by main migrant populations in Nordic countries is desirable. IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Finland will be considered. The appointment will be contingent upon medical fitness certification, verification of residency, visa, and government authorizations where applicable. The selection process may also be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months.
