Job Overview:
The internship-programme" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Internship Programme at FAO is designed to attract talented young individuals who are motivated to contribute their innovative ideas and academic knowledge to the organization's mission. Interns will have the opportunity to supplement their academic experience with practical work assignments in fields related to FAO's work. This program not only provides valuable learning experiences but also allows interns to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework, which aims to transform agri-food systems for better production, nutrition, environment, and life, ensuring that no one is left behind. Interns will report to assigned supervisors and will be placed in various fields of work based on their profiles and the organization's needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will perform tasks as specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office. Responsibilities may include conducting research, assisting in project implementation, participating in meetings, and contributing to reports and presentations. Interns are expected to engage actively in their assigned tasks and collaborate with team members to achieve project goals. They will also have the opportunity to learn about FAO's operations and contribute to discussions on food security and agricultural development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited institution. They should specialize in a field relevant to FAO's mission and work. A working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is required, and knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset. Candidates must be nationals of FAO member countries and should be aged between 21 and 3
  • Adaptability to an international multicultural environment and strong communication skills are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have educational qualifications from institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED). This includes degrees in fields related to agriculture, food security, environmental science, international relations, or other relevant disciplines that align with FAO's mission.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic studies and a strong motivation to contribute to FAO's objectives. Previous internships or volunteer work in related fields may be beneficial but are not required.

Languages:
A working knowledge of at least one FAO language is mandatory. Knowledge of a second FAO language is advantageous and may enhance a candidate's application.

FAO does not charge any fees during the recruitment process. The organization encourages applications from qualified female candidates, nationals of non-represented member countries, and candidates from Low-Income Food-Deficit Countries (LIFDCs), Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Land-locked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend unless sponsored by their universities or other entities. Candidates must have appropriate residence or immigration status in the proposed country of assignment before joining FAO. Those with family members employed by FAO are ineligible for the internship.
