Job Overview:

Interns will be assigned to various fields of work based on their profiles and the organization's needs, providing a valuable learning opportunity while contributing to the transformation of agri-food systems for better production, nutrition, environment, and overall quality of life.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will perform tasks as specified in the Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by the hiring office prior to the start of their assignment. Responsibilities may include conducting research, assisting in project implementation, participating in meetings, and contributing to reports and presentations. Interns are expected to collaborate with team members, engage in knowledge sharing, and support the organization's initiatives in achieving food security and sustainable agriculture. The specific duties will vary depending on the intern's field of study and the needs of the organization, but all tasks will be aligned with FAO's mission and objectives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited educational institution. FAO only considers qualifications from institutions recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED). Candidates should specialize in a field relevant to FAO's mission and work. Additionally, candidates must be nationals of FAO Member Nations and should be aged between 21 and 3
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to an international multicultural environment are essential. A working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is required, and knowledge of a second FAO language is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at a recognized institution at the time of application or must be recent graduates. The educational qualifications must be from institutions accredited by the World Higher Education Database (WHED). This ensures that the candidates possess the necessary academic foundation to contribute effectively to FAO's work.

Experience:
While prior work experience is not mandatory, candidates should demonstrate relevant academic study in fields related to FAO's mission. The internship is designed for individuals who are looking to gain practical experience and apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting. Candidates who have previously undertaken an internship at FAO are not eligible to apply again.

Languages:
A working knowledge of at least one FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) is mandatory. Knowledge of a second FAO language will be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the organization and with diverse stakeholders.
